The four stroke engine

In today's latest engines, gasolene is injected directly into the cylinders close to the highest of the compression stroke.

(Other engines concoction the air and fuel throughout the intake stroke.) In either case, simply before the piston reaches the highest of its travel, called high spatial relation,

spark plugs ignite the air and fuel mixture.

The ensuing enlargement of hot, burning gases pushes the piston within the other way (down) throughout the combustion stroke.

This is the stroke that gets the wheels on your automobile rolling, a bit like after you down on the pedals of a motorcycle.

When the combustion stroke reaches bottom spatial relation, exhaust valves hospitable permit the combustion gases to urge wired out of the engine (like a syringe bodily process air) as

the piston comes up again.

When the exhaust is expelled—it continues through the car's system before exiting the rear of the vehicle—the exhaust valves shut at high spatial relation, and also the whole method

starts over again.
